2014 Aki Cup Finale: Kodama GC Report

The second Aki Cup race came to a conclusion at Kodama GC yesterday and frontrunner Savuth Kong easily won the 2014 Aki Cup with 2,113 total points.  Savuth shot a 72 (gross 85) to take second place on the day and pick up 710 points.  Second place in the season went to Chris Hurquin who won the event yesterday. Chris shot a 68 (gross 91) to take 1,030 on the day and a total 1,635 points in the race.  As a reminder, the points for the Aki Cup finale are double the regular event points. Third place in the race went to 2014 Haru Cup winner Stan Filin with 1,450 total points.

There were a variety of golf courses in this year's Aki Cup race and Savuth played consistently throughout with one win and three second place finishes.  After the win, Savuth said he was fortunate to have played well and was now ready for the off season and the ski season.  And judging from yesterday's weather, ski season seems to be quite near as it was chilly when the sun went into hiding and the day even saw a few snow flurries before lunch.

Third place in yesterday's event, with a sore of 75, went to Toshimichi Kida (gross 95) and Aya Morohoshi  (gross 102).  Toshimichi finished fourth in the race with 1,295 points.

And in the Stableford side bet, Chris took the first prize with a Stableford score of 40.  Savuth Kong took second with 36 points.

Thank you
Special thanks to Chris Hurquin and Aya Morohoshi for helping organize this event. Chris also helped organize most of the event in this 2014 Aki Cup.  Thanks also to Yasu Iwatani, Greg Mettam and Steve Novosel for helping in other events over the 2014 Aki Cup season.

And, of course, thanks to everyone who took part. In the 2014 Aki Cup nearly every event was full and 36 different players took part in at least one event.

Winter is nearly here and it's now time to take a golf break.  Look for more when we return in the 2015 Haru Cup.  See you then!

  1. Thank you Jack for all your work in organising, and to the many helpers along the way. Great format and interesting array of courses. So glad in that cold weather that I didn't have to go stripping down on the 5th, for a third time! Peter
