Haru Cup #5: World Cup at Windsor Park Event Report

Gero and Reto, members of team German Precision, took first place in the World Cup and Haru Cup #5 golf tournament at Windsor Park Golf Course in Ibaraki.  On a beautiful sunny day, the German Precision team took 500 points each shooting a gross 69 (net 61) in the 2-person Texas scramble.

Team Singapore and Germany 1 tied for second place with net 63s.  All four members, Adrian and Terence of Singapore and Karl and Tom from Germany 1, received 300 points each.

After five Haru Cup events, Chris Hurquin (1030 points) maintains a slim twenty point lead over Yasu Iwatani (1010 points), followed by Steve Novosel with 967.

The World Cup event is a festive golf event that tries to have teams paired from the same country or area in a 2-person Texas Scramble format.  Now in it's fifth year, Greg Mettam organized the event and 36 players on 18 teams took part. Some team uniforms have become more elaborate over the years and for the second straight year Team Texas (Steve Novosel and Andy Cheek) won the men's best uniform prize.  This year's women's prize went to Team Akihabara Moe (Tomoco Esaka and Aya Morohoshi) with their very popular maid outfits.

The next Haru Cup event, #6, takes place at  Koshigaya Golf Club in Saitama on May 31st.  As of this posting, there are three spots open in the 16 person event.
