Aki Cuppers ready to take on the Purple Hill |
On a beautiful autumn day last Saturday, ten golfers took part in the sixth segment of the 2016 Aki Cup Sponsored by Air Golf at Murasakizuka GC in Tochigi. Making her way into the Aki Cup winner's circle for the second time was Hiroe Sakai, who shot a net 68 (gross 100) to win the event.

Hiroe modestly attributed her win to the "super lady-friendly holes," referring to the red tee boxes. Hiroe also won the first leg of the 2016 Aki Cup back in September at Mashiko PGA course, also in Tochigi. With the win she picked up 500 points and moved into first place in the overall points race.

Special thanks to Yasu Iwatani for arranging the event. The next event, Aki Cup #7, will be played next week at Manago CC, the first Arnold Palmer designed course in Japan. Spots are still available--if you can make it, come on out!
