Low gross scorer Savuth Kong (83) took second place and 360
points with a net 70. Yasuo Asoh finished
third with a net 75 (gross 84) and 255 points.
The tight fairways and abundant foliage and hazards made the
course difficult for the group overall.
Several players finished with higher than average scores and significantly
fewer golf balls than when they started. Like Kamo GC, host of the first leg of the Aki
Cup, Kazusa is deep in Chiba's Boso Peninsula with lush, verdant scenery and
lots of wildlife. Animals spotted on
this outing included monkeys, wild boar, hawks and a giant praying mantis.
After two events, Yasu Iwatani still leads the Aki Cup Race
with 675 points. Thierry Grave moves
into second with 510 points and Savuth Kong is in third with 500.
As with Aki Cup #1, special thanks to Yasu Iwatani for booking
the event and organizing everything--everyone seemed to enjoy the outing. And again Yasu provided the prizes for the
four closest-to-the-pin. Yasu even handmade
the markers with cardboard paper and used yakitori skewers from the night
before!
The third leg of the Aki Cup comes to familiar ground for
many players, Kodama GC in Saitama. It
will be held on Saturday, October 11th. The twelve person event is now full, but there are still places available for the other Aki events.
In other Aki Cup news, all eight events have now been
finalized.
