The beautiful
Narusawa Golf Club at the base of Mount Fuji played host to the seventh leg of the 2014 Aki Cup race yesterday. On another clear, fine autumn day, Takamitsu Araki played equally fine golf to score his first Aki Cup victory and 510 points with a 71 (gross 103).
Alastair MacDonald took second and 350 points with a net 75 (gross 83). His gross score tied for the day's low gross with Marcos Tanaka. Two players tied for third place with 79, Savuth Kong (gross 92) and Stan Filin (gross 112).
This was the first time the Aki Cup has visted Narusawa GC, and most of the players really seemed to enjoy it. In addition to the magnificent background, the course has quite a nice layout and variety of holes. One player called it one of the best courses in the country and another said it was his favorite course in all of Japan. Special thanks go to Chris Hurquin for organizing the event.
After seven events, Savuth Kong still leads the 2014 Aki Cup race with 1,605 points. Second place is still held by Stan Filin with 1,340 points.
The eighth and final Aki Cup event will take place December 6th at
Kodama GC in Saitama. As the finale, all placement points are doubled, including first place with 1,000 points. That means any of the standing's top twelve players have a chance to win the Cup.
